Chrissy Teigen Opens Up About Her Sobriety: ‘Everything Is New and Better’

You’d be hard-pressed to find someone more hyped about the inauguration of Joe Biden than Donald Trump’s Twitter archenemy, Chrissy Teigen.

After years of being blocked by the leader of the free world online, Teigen had the pleasure of traveling to Washington, D.C., for the swearing-in of his opponent—or at least the inauguration’s follow-up special, Celebrating America, featuring a performance by her husband, John Legend.

Teigen shared her experience being in D.C. for the historic occasion on Instagram and Twitter, noting that being sober only enhanced the magical moment. “Ran our asses up the stairs for this shot. Just incredible to be here. Sober,” she tweeted on January 20. “I know that’s weird but it’s like…a different world for me. Everything is new and better. Very happy. The most happy bigly happy.”

The use of bigly was obviously another dig at the former president, which is hilarious, considering Trump can’t use the social media app. In fact, she even used her Twitter prowess to gain a follow from President Joe Biden by tweeting at him that she’d been blocked by Trump. She is now one of only 12 accounts followed by the sitting president.

“I can finally see the president’s tweets and they probably won’t be unhinged,” she wrote in celebration.

Back in December 2020, Chrissy Teigen revealed on Instagram that she’d gone sober after one fan commented on a post joking that she needed “whatever drugs” Teigen was using. At the time, the model and entrepreneur replied, “4 weeks sober 💕🙏🏼💕🙏🏼💕.”

Teigen later revealed that she made the decision to stop drinking for a variety of reasons. “One month ago, on my birthday, I got this book from my doctor and friend,” Teigen shared on Instagram Stories on New Year’s Eve. “I was done with making an ass of myself in front of people (I’m still embarrassed), tired of day drinking and feeling like shit by 6, not being able to sleep. I have been sober ever since.”
